Edison the Great!

Edison had a vocabulary word parade at school last week.  He had to design a costume using his word which was "sum."  He used stamps and markers to make math problems on a t-shirt and wrote the definition of "sum" on the back.  He wanted something fun to go along with it, so we attached some pipe cleaners and paper to the top of a funny hat.  He had a good time showing off his costume to other classes.

Today, Edison was very interested in playing the piano.  He even wanted me to teach him a few things so I got out the beginners book I got for him 2 years ago (finally!!!)  I was so excited that he wanted to learn!  He worked on a short song and did very well and had it memorized in no time.  Hopefully he will continue to play!

3rd and 4th Grade Concert

This year's concert theme was "Broadway" and the 3rd and 4th graders had fun singing lots of different Broadway songs.  Edison's group sang songs from the Wizard of Oz, Peter Pan, and Matilda.  The other group sang songs from the Lion King, Annie, and Wicked.  He did a great job!

Cub Scout Winter Campout

We decided at the last minute not to spend the night in the cabin, but Edison still had a lot of fun at the camp out on Saturday!  It was really cold and snowy, but that did not stop the kids from having a blast sledding down the hill behind the cabin.  They also had time to launch their rockets that they built a few weeks ago.  There was some time to play a few games like Jenga and Uno, plus running around with friends.  We had a yummy pasta dinner, smores, and hot chocolate, too.  After dinner, a few brave adults (not me and Brian!) took the kids back outside for some night sledding.  Edison said it was a lot of fun and he carried his camping lantern down the hill on the front of his sled.  He said it made it not as scary.  We left to go home after the sledding, and everyone was really tired when we pulled into the driveway.  We thought we would have a relaxing Sunday at home, but Edison decided he wanted to go out and see the new Lego Movie.  It was pretty good and Edison is looking forward to seeing it again! =)

 Such a nice helper!

 Time for sledding!

It was a long way back up the hill!

Rocket time!  Edison got to push the button!
 Blast off!
It came back down to earth with no problem.
 Jenga time!
Getting crazy with the Jenga pieces
 Edison's tower
 The Four Musketeers playing Uno
Edison and Dad taking the knife safety class
 Learning how to carve soap
The Bear and Webelo dens earning their knife safety cards
Edison was nervous at first, but got the hang of it.  And no one lost a finger! =)

Mom's Birthday Weekend

I can't believe it's been a month since I updated the blog!  Here are some pictures from our quick weekend trip to the Abbey in Lake Geneva over my birthday weekend.  We had fun swimming and hanging out in the hot tub.  We also went out for lunch one day and stopped to take a couple pictures near the lake and grab a quick geocache.  But since it was so cold, we were not outside very long.  The hotel had ice skating outside, which we decided to skip, too.  =)  It was a really nice weekend and I had fun just relaxing by the pool and catching up on my reading.  Thank you two my two boys for making it so special!!!
