Meet Gilligan

On Saturday, last weekend, we decided at the last minute to visit Kay's Animal Shelter.  We came home with a very busy 5 month old kitten who we named Gilligan.  His name at the shelter was Buddy, but since we call Edison Buddy sometimes, we thought it would get confusing.  The kitten didn't seem to recognize the name anyway, so Brian came up with Gilligan.  It's a perfect name for this goofball cat!  When we got to the shelter, this was the first kitten that Brian saw, and he was purring and being very friendly.  We looked at some other kittens that were younger, but they didn't really pay us much attention.  As soon as I got to hold Gilligan, I knew I wanted to take him home.  He's very sweet, very playful, and sometimes very naughty, but he's a lot of fun to have around.  Magpie is not happy about the new addition, but at least she stopped hiding out and is now just hissing at him when he gets too close.  Hopefully they will be friends soon!  I took Gilligan to the vet this week and he had an ear infection, so we are giving him ear drops twice a day.  He's not too fond of it, but once he's wrapped in a towel, it's easy to give him the drops.  He also let me clip his claws while he slept on me last night, so that was a nice surprise.  Edison has been having fun playing with him, but was a little mad when we had to put his Legos away.  Gilligan loved chasing the Lego trains around, but also loved chewing on the Legos.  =)
