Our Trip to Springfield, MO

For Memorial Day weekend, we skipped town a day early to travel to Springfield, MO to visit with the Hahn Family!  We stopped halfway to stay the night in Litchfield, IL to break up the drive, then finished up the next day.  It took a while to get to Liz and Jeremy's house, however, because we were stopping for geocaches on the way.  We saw lots of cool things including the world's biggest rocking chair and an old Route 66 bridge that is now only used for pedestrians over the Mississippi River.  We had a yummy pizza dinner (Liz makes the BEST homemade pizza!) and spent time visiting with the boys.  We went out for ice cream after dinner and it just happened to be a big car show weekend so all the hot rods were out cruising the streets.  The boys enjoyed watching all the cool cars go by as they ate ice cream. Then we headed to our hotel for the night to rest up for another busy day on Saturday.

Brian and Jeremy went caching in Arkansas while Liz and I took the boys swimming at the hotel, then to the Dickerson Zoo in Springfield.  We had a great time!  We all met back up for dinner later on, and I enjoyed stealing some of Liz's all you can eat ribs.  =)

Sunday was a slow day at first.  We hung around the hotel and Brian started feeling under the weather.  We were supposed to meet at Grandpa Turner's house for a BBQ that afternoon, but the weather had other ideas.  It was pouring most of the day, so we all met up at Liz and Jeremy's again for a BBQ there.  Brian stayed back at the hotel to get some rest.  The kids had fun playing Wii games and dancing to music.  (You should check out Pop Se Koo on youtube.  It won't get stuck in your head, honest!)

We had to leave to go home on Monday and since Brian was still feeling blah, I took over the driving.  Luckily we only had to stop for one cache at a rest stop on the way back, so it was mostly a non-stop ride.  Everyone was very tired when we got home, but we had a great time on our mini-vacation!  Can't wait to visit again!!!
